Peace or Pieces?

I have just recently had my two young grandchildren spend five days with me. Young means one being 3 years old and the other several months old. Was it a busy five days? Yes! Was it an adventure? Yes! Was it enjoyable? Yes!! Was it an investment? Yes!!

Every moment was a joy, because I was mindful of my end goal. Investment. I am a follower of Christ and the greatest investment I can deposit into my grandchildren is godly character, reminding them of who God made them to be, His children and therefore part of His family. This in no way minimizes all that their parents invest in them. I am doing my part.

All your children shall be taught by the LORD,

and great shall be the peace of your children.

Isaiah 54:13 (ESV)

Jesus is my everything. He is my peace. He holds me in His hands. I am His child, a joint heir with Jesus. I am loved, I am forgiven, I am accepted, I am redeemed, I am crowned with loving-kindness and tender mercy. I continue to be taught by the Lord as I feed on Him, the Living Word and I am guided by the Spirit of God. I am healed and healthy and I am delivered. I was taken out of the kingdom of darkness and put into the Kingdom of the Son of His love. I am protected and God is my provision and portion. And when I am weak, HE is STRONG! And so much more because I am still growing in Christ.

“Jesus is my everything.”

Without God in our lives, we are a pile of broken pieces. We cannot fix our lives. We can never ‘fix’ our lives and then bring what we have ‘fixed’ to Jesus. Our works without God are like filthy rags. God does not bless our mess. He takes us as we are, broken and in pieces and makes us a new creation. Not a remodeled creation, but new, through the blood of Jesus. And then He sees us righteous through the righteousness of Christ Jesus.

So, what am I investing in my grandchildren? My life in Christ. That they are taught by the Lord and great shall be their peace. I trust God to keep them in His keeping power so that as they grow, they are taught by the Lord and are kept in His peace in the face of the trials and tests they will face in their lives. And is there a cost? Yes. That I lay down my life for the times with these two precious little ones. And is there hope? Yes. God in their lives to carry them through, and the peace of God that He is always with them, teaching them.

Peace be with you!
