We recently recorded a podcast that will air in September. Our podcasts talk about Christian family life, and these can and do cover a whole gambit of thoughts, life stories, Biblical input and most importantly covers how Jesus has been a part of my life.
We are a mother daughter team, so these perspectives vary all the time. These perspectives could be from either myself or my daughter and cover a lifespan of childhood and adulthood memories. So, perspective depends on through whose lens you are looking at life. The podcast that provoked this blog is titled “Jesus, I need You! Help!!”

I have since been thinking about what this life statement really means. Jesus, the Lamb of God took away the sin of the world. Jesus bore the punishment for our sin, everyone’s sin, from eternity past to eternity future of this age. This is the Gospel or the Good News. But this truth is only realized when we acknowledge our need of God’s love and His forgiveness of our sin through Jesus’ death on the cross. Our acknowledgement of our sin and asking Jesus into our heart is a life changing experience. We join the family of God, we become one of His children. Jesus’ resurrection from the dead is also our hope of life eternal in the presence of God, with Jesus at the righthand of the Father.
“Jesus bore the punishment for our sin, everyone’s sin, from eternity past to eternity future of this age."
John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him.
This life then is unique to each person, but the main question is “Have you recognized your need of Jesus’ saving grace for your life? Have you accepted His gift of being saved? Do you know from what you are saved? Saved from a destiny of God’s wrath and judgement, and alienation from God.
As I sat down to write these thoughts, I was prompted to share the above truth about salvation (being saved) through Jesus Christ’s gift. His gift of extreme generosity and God’s demonstration of His great love.
It does not matter how “long” I have walked as a child of God. My need of Him is an integral part of my life journey. The words of this hymn say just that:
“I need Thee every hour”
I need Thee ev'ry hour,
Most gracious Lord;
No tender voice like Thine
Can peace afford.
Refrain:
I need Thee, oh, I need Thee;
Ev'ry hour I need Thee;
Oh, bless me now, my Savior,
I come to Thee.
I need Thee ev'ry hour,
Stay Thou nearby;
Temptations lose their pow’r
When Thou art nigh. [Refrain]
I need Thee ev'ry hour,
In joy or pain;
Come quickly and abide,
Or life is vain. [Refrain]
I need Thee ev'ry hour,
Teach me Thy will;
And Thy rich promises
In me fulfill. [Refrain]
Have you ever recognized your need? Are you alienated from God? Who do you need as an integral, central part of your life? On who can you depend? As for me, yes Jesus, I need You!
Jesus, I need You, every hour!
“I need Thee every hour, Most gracious Lord” written and published in 1872 by Authors (refrain): Robert Lowry (1872); Author: Annie S. Hawks (1872)
