Decree a thing challenge

Recently I watched the outworking of another answer to a decree.

“You will also decide and decree a thing, and it will be established for you;And the light [of God’s favor] will shine upon your ways.”

Job 22:28 Amplified Bible

A few weeks ago, in a message at church we were challenged to forty days of making a decree or declaration, morning and night. I committed three decrees to this challenge and began the journey. Yes, it is a journey because it is one of perseverance and faithfulness. One has to mean business or decide to be serious in the undertaking.

The word of God about making a decree or declaration was not strange to me as I had seen God’s hand move on my behalf. I had declared that my next home would have a view. What I meant was that the view would be beyond the four walls of the property. I had also declared that the laundry would be a part of the main house structure. We had a lovely home that we had remodeled, and we were very happy in our home.

Then in April 1992 we were transferred as expatriates from South Africa to New Zealand. After some minor remodeling we moved into our new home. The house belonged to the company that employed my late husband, Bruce. One day in a time with the Lord, as I considered our new home, I realized that there was a view from every room in the house, including the laundry which was inside the main structure of the house. The view was either of the river estuary out to sea or upstream inland, and it was beautiful. Thank You Lord!

Later, I heard the pastor of the church we were members of preach a message on the Job 22:28 Scripture. The Lord showed me that I had lived the declaration that I had spoken sometime before 1992.

A decree is spoken into the atmosphere to bring about change!”

Over the years there have been other stories of decrees and declarations that I have made. Many have been daily declarations. One declaration involved one of our children. It was seven years before we saw God answer this declaration. We had to walk through many challenges in this journey, including moving countries and then states in the United States of America. God is faithful even if we waver. Persevere!

I have learned that one must be bold, strong and courageous in making a decree. A decree is spoken into the atmosphere to bring about change. We make a decree or declaration because we want to see something different. I learned in this walk to pursue what I wanted to see changed and so I had to persevere.

There are also decrees and declarations that are still to be realized, but I know that in God’s time we will see His hand move on these. My time is in His hands!

Simply put, our words have power. As we align ourselves with God and His word, we experience His faithfulness. That is my story. God wants us to walk out this journey of salvation and trust Him, because He loves us, and He is faithful.

Be bold! Decree a thing!
